What can I claim without receipts?
The ATO generally says that if you have no receipts at all, but you did purchase work related items during the financial year, you can make a claim up to a maximum of $300.
What can I claim on tax working from home?
There are a number of deductions you can claim when working from home. Some of these include internet, laptop, keyboard and various other home office items. Additionally the ATO has a standardised rate of 52c per hour worked at home which you can add on to the previous deductions to boost your claim. How much can I claim on tax for donations?
Provided the donation was made to a deductible gift recipient (the vendor should know this or the receipt will state it), you will be able to claim the entire amount of the donation. The minimum donation that you can make and claim for is $2.
What is a dependent for tax purposes?
The ATO defines a dependant as the following:
A person can be considered your dependant if they meet the criteria for one of the categories below:
your spouse,
ii. your child,
iii. any other person you are in an interdependent relationship with,
iv. a person who is substantially financially dependent on you.
What purchases can I claim on Tax?

Can Tradies claim fuel?
As a tradesperson claiming fuel and car expenses make part of a big deduction claim available to tradies when doing their tax. There are two different ways in which you can calculate the amount of fuel you can claim, the cents per kilometre method and the log book method. While both these methods are available to everyone, tradies can have some special concessions which entitle them to a higher deduction claim compared to other industries. Why claim tax free threshold?
If you are an Australian resident for tax purposes you can claim the tax free threshold which entitles you to not pay any tax on the first $18,200 . To put simply, claiming the tax free threshold will mean you ultimately pay less tax!
What is family tax benefit?
Family Tax Benefit (FTB) is a payment that helps eligible families with the cost of raising children. It is made up of two parts:
Part A: paid per child and the amount paid is based on the family’s circumstances
Part B: paid per family and gives help to single parents and some couples families with one main income
Both FTB payments are tax free pensions and are not included in an individuals taxable income.
Can you claim a tax deduction for university fees?
Generally you can’t claim university fees as a tax deduction. Only in very limited circumstances, which would need to involve up front payment (no HECS/HELP), would you be able to claim. Feel free to reach out if you think this applies to you.
Does Australia Tax Overseas Income?
This really depends on your residency, which depends on factors such as where did you live for most of the year, where your family lives, where you earn most of your income and more. If you are an Australian resident for tax purposes, this is different to normal residency, then you will generally have to pay tax on overseas income. Luckily most countries have a tax treaty with Australia.

Generally it is, how you record it in your income tax return will depend on whether or not you trade cryptocurrency in the form of a business. The distinction is determined by multiple factors such as trading commonly and it being your main source of income, or just trading every now and then, and as an investment strategy.

What is the tax rate in Queensland?
The tax rate in Queensland is the same for every state. This is because income tax is a federal matter and not a state one. Queensland is luck that we don’t have to pay some other taxes like stamp duties on trusts and more.

Do I need an accountant for my small business in Australia?

We only work with businesses who use Xero. In the word’s of Xero it is “beautiful” software and we agree.
